They make money from the odds of you wining a game of chance and you not knowing the odds, for if you did would you come in?

Bean said your next stop should be the Roulette wheel. It’s simple, and pays fairly well.

“So you bet on your favorite numbers,” Bean said. “The dealer spins, and if your number comes in you win.”

If you stick to betting on just Reds or Blacks, you have nearly a 50-50 chance of walking away a winner. If it lands on red when you choose red, you will double your bet, Bean explained.

While it may seem you have an even chance of winning by simply choosing a color, there is one catch that gives the house its edge: the extra green 0 and 00 position on the wheel. It’s on all American roulette wheels.

Or, if you feel lucky, play just one number. It’s hard to win, but if you do it pays out 36 to 1.

That’s just Roulette The story above talks about most of the table games to make a long story short

“Play it long enough and you will lose. In the long term the house doesn’t lose,” Magazine said.

from the story above.
Now the house wants you inside as long as possible longer you stay the longer you play the more $$ they win.  They know the odds, they know gamblers and they do not play games. They know how the mind works here is an example from  http://listverse.com/2010/02/09/10-tricks-casinos-use-on-you/

“Ever notice how the lighting in a casino is low and mellow? This is to give it a homey, friendly feel, kind of like sitting on your couch in your living room at home – and who wants to get off of their comfortable couch? Harsh lighting can be grating to the eyes, but a more subdued motif allows gamblers to settle in, kick back, and enjoy themselves while feeling safe, secure, and cozy.

Also, the carpeting in casinos isn’t just picked out randomly. Many may say that the patterns and designs on these carpets are downright tacky, with colorful swirls, lines, and splashes being the norm. However, to the human brain they are mesmerizing, welcoming and pleasing to the eye. In addition, the color of the walls is often times red which studies say evokes a safe, comfortable feeling.

And like shopping malls and stores, the soundtracks played at casinos are always soft, easing, and mollifying which helps get the gambler in the trance-like state that is desired.

Related to this category is the cleanliness of casinos. Any reputable one will be spotless with no clutter or waste in sight. Workers continually sweep and pick up after players which makes them feel somewhat pampered and catered to, as well as gives them a pleasing environment in which they want to stay.”

They are not here to be nice they are here to make money.  IMHO every Dime that the Casino spends here will come out of the pockets of the fools who walk in thinking they will win.

Sorry

  1. Lizzy Borden says:

Bricks and Mortar Casinos are so yesterday!!!

“DOVER, Del. — Delaware’s three casinos launched the first phase of the state’s online gambling operation Wednesday, opening Web portals for free slots, poker, blackjack and roulette games.

The no-money games are precursor to the state’s coming full-service, real-cash online gambling operation, now planned to launch at the end of October.”

Delaware FIRST! New Jersey Casinos NEXT!

“At 6 a.m. ET, each Delaware casino’s homepage directed visitors to the Facebook-linked game platform DoubleDown Casino, run by slot machine company IGT, one of Delaware’s contractual slots vendors.

Delaware remains on track to be the first state in the nation to offer a full compliment of legal casino games online, made possible by legislation that cleared the General Assembly last year.

Nevada legalized online poker in February, and sites there began operating in the spring. New Jersey is close behind Delaware in putting in place its online gambling law, passed earlier this year.

“This first phase will allow us to really get the players acclimated to the virtual world in a legalized environment,” said Tom Cook, Delaware’s secretary of finance.

While the free games will be open to players anywhere in the world, the coming real-money games will be available only to players within Delaware’s borders in accordance with federal law.”

Of course, once the Dairyland Casino with all the amenities is built – even fewer people will come to Racine and people and money that could have been spent in Racine’s already empty Downtown will flow to Kenosha County and the businesses, shops and restaurants that line the I-94 corridor.

    • Gee what will Downtown do when the Casino becomes THE place to go for “entertainment” vs Downtown Racine?
How will the bars live when the drinkers go outside Racine?
The first Winter the Casino is open will end Downtown Racine.
In fact who will drive to downtown Racine when a far better better venue will be just down the road?
