And yet

Some may think I do not want the Casino to come to Kenosha  that would be untrue,

I do want us to think about what it may mean to  the area and try to slow the hysteria on how the Casino will fix all issues in S.E. Wisconsin and give everyone a job.

That being said its free will If folks want to spend the $$ I say go for it.

Better yet go for a job if you need one or want to work a part time gig, see what the Casino’s needs might be and go for that too.  I recall when Ho-Chunk opened many of the fools who gave me a hard time for being Native (Little did we know…) somehow thought they were Native too!

Perhaps some training at Gateway could prepare you for a job opening!

Downtown Stores might want to move to that area to avoid the painful death I think is coming to Racine’s Downtown

Now I think there are opportunities for self employment. From starting a Van service taking folks to the Casino to escorting big winners to the Bank.   Please see local laws before starting any Businesses INHO Kenosha will be more easier to work with then Racine, but time will tell.

Still a lot to talk about with this and I will but again its up to them if they like to go for it

Casino Kills Downtown Racine Editorial

BOR

The Downtown Racine will die with the Casino, it will be dead dead dead  and well they I think have it coming see, the Casino will not care if your Black, White, Hispanic, or from the Root River.

All the Casino wants, is you to spend your money gaming.  At the Casino you will be safe, no one will bother you for say being the wrong color.  Best, the Casino will not take you for granted, I feel they will go beyond the call of duty to earn and keep your business.

The Casino will offer good places to eat, and a new up to date entertainment center. (How much $$ with the Civic Center in Racine ask the City of Racine for to try and compete?  IMHO the civic center gets paid back for all the poor service over the years.

Every dollar spent at the Casino is one that that will not be spent Downtown.  I feel that the Casino will become a go to place easy to get to and one that is welcoming to any that walk in the door.

Want to go out? Want to see a top ten act lets go to the Casino and have some fun.

Mind you the Boaters “May” keep parts of Downtown alive but what happens the first Winter?  How will the County ever pay off Reef Point?

There is no stemming the tide, Is Mayor Dickert going to charge a tax to go to Kenoshsa?

Interesting too is will Casino cause more in this area to move to Kenosha then into Porter’s? Will stores want to open in a dead Downtown?  Will you want to go to the Downtown or the Casino?  Will the area around the Casino as it builds  up (and it will) draw down what little life is in the Downtown?

As I see it, 3 years after this opens Downtown Racine blows away.  I wonder if they will understand why?

Of course your going to win

How do Casinos make $$ is is with the Mob taking it at gun point?

BS

No you be giving to them willingly.

The one armed Bandits will not need guns to take every Dine you might walk in with

Under Arrest?

They make money from the odds of you wining a game of chance and you not knowing the odds, for if you did would you come in?

From http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/money/consumer/dont_waste_your_money/before-you-go-gambling-the-best-and-worst-casino-game-odds

Bean said your next stop should be the Roulette wheel. It’s simple, and pays fairly well.

“So you bet on your favorite numbers,” Bean said. “The dealer spins, and if your number comes in you win.”

If you stick to betting on just Reds or Blacks, you have nearly a 50-50 chance of walking away a winner. If it lands on red when you choose red, you will double your bet, Bean explained.

While it may seem you have an even chance of winning by simply choosing a color, there is one catch that gives the house its edge: the extra green 0 and 00 position on the wheel. It’s on all American roulette wheels.

Or, if you feel lucky, play just one number. It’s hard to win, but if you do it pays out 36 to 1.

That’s just Roulette The story above talks about most of the table games to make a long story short

“Play it long enough and you will lose. In the long term the house doesn’t lose,” Magazine said.

from the story above.
Now the house wants you inside as long as possible longer you stay the longer you play the more $$ they win.  They know the odds, they know gamblers and they do not play games. They know how the mind works here is an example from  http://listverse.com/2010/02/09/10-tricks-casinos-use-on-you/

“Ever notice how the lighting in a casino is low and mellow? This is to give it a homey, friendly feel, kind of like sitting on your couch in your living room at home – and who wants to get off of their comfortable couch? Harsh lighting can be grating to the eyes, but a more subdued motif allows gamblers to settle in, kick back, and enjoy themselves while feeling safe, secure, and cozy.

Also, the carpeting in casinos isn’t just picked out randomly. Many may say that the patterns and designs on these carpets are downright tacky, with colorful swirls, lines, and splashes being the norm. However, to the human brain they are mesmerizing, welcoming and pleasing to the eye. In addition, the color of the walls is often times red which studies say evokes a safe, comfortable feeling.

And like shopping malls and stores, the soundtracks played at casinos are always soft, easing, and mollifying which helps get the gambler in the trance-like state that is desired.

Related to this category is the cleanliness of casinos. Any reputable one will be spotless with no clutter or waste in sight. Workers continually sweep and pick up after players which makes them feel somewhat pampered and catered to, as well as gives them a pleasing environment in which they want to stay.”

They are not here to be nice they are here to make money.  IMHO every Dime that the Casino spends here will come out of the pockets of the fools who walk in thinking they will win.

Sorry

Casino Games! My view

And I thought Root Works  was strange.

Now I do not care if this happens or not. Just find it interesting to see the hype and the spin.

Looks like we will be seeing a bit of Hysteria about how this Casino will bring Mega Jobs (good Paying)  huge investment in adjoining businesses, well time will tell,.

IMHO there will be no stopping this.

As you know I am from Baraboo WI we have Ho Chunk

imagesHC

It goes 24/7.

About 3000 are employed.

As you know the Ho-Chuck want to go into Beloit.

Here is an interesting newspaper story From the Gazette/Xtra 1/11/2012

http://gazettextra.com/news/2012/jan/11/ho-chunk-details-beloit-casino-plan/

Highlights

1) 32 ac complex Est 150-200 Million to build

2) About 2000 jobs

3) 2% 0f the “net” to the City 30% of that the city would pay to the county (My best guess say 50 million a year

4) A room tax would go to the Rock County Visitor/Convention (no small amount of money)

What could a staving city like Beloit do with that?

Got the point? Lets go back to Kenosha I have not read how much the City or County thinks they will gain. I do believe this

1) The jobs will not pay well check to see what casino jobs pay in Vegas

2) Once the major building jobs are done the union jobs are gone if they even start. The constriction may not have to be union.

3) KRM will get pitched and may go ahead this time as a way to bring high rollers to Racine. Note most Gamblers are not high rollers but poorer folks looking for a fast way out. The “High Rollers” who “gamble” do so at the New York Stock Exchange

4) Racine City and County will try to get a part of this. Mayor Dickert will try for a bus line to the Casino and say it be for the workers from Racine to use “Its Green” sure would be green as Racine folks take the bus to the casino!

5) with 75-100 Million from this they will not play. Cities like Racine will clean up ts act or our leaders will become ones that will.

6) There will be no stopping this

Arft said the nation’s leaders weren’t comfortable dropping a number, but they have given city officials a range of potential revenue based on their marketing projections.
“I can tell you that it is a substantial number,” Arft said. “It clearly would be a game-changer again in terms of the city’s ability to budget and do capital expenditures.”

About 200 people packed the Beloit Library to hear Ho-Chunk representatives present their plans to build a casino facility on a 32-acre parcel just off of Interstate 90/39 in Beloit at a cost of $150 million to $200 million.
Beloit City Manager Larry Arft also presented the details of the draft intergovernmental agreement, which is the last big piece of the application the nation needs to move the proposed project forward.
Greendeer and former Vice President Daniel Brown described plans that include a 45,000-square-foot gaming facility with 2,200 slots and 50 table games. A 35,000-square-foot convention center and 300-room hotel also would be part of the facility they described as “modern”—unlike their other facilities that have a “more woodsy” motif, they said.
The casino complex would employ up to 2,000 people, and about 500 construction and other development jobs would be created to build the facility, Brown said.
The nation employs 3,370 employees, of which 2,070 are in the gaming field, Greendeer said. Only 15 percent of those are Ho-Chunk members. The non-Ho-Chunk workforce makes up nearly 70 percent of the nation’s employees, he said.

Why Horlick Dam now?

Hdam

From the Journal Times 8/27/13

“Alternatives for the Horlick Dam will be the focus of the Root River Planning meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at River Bend Nature Center, 3600 N. Green Bay Road.

The dam has inadequate spillway capacity to safely pass the 500-year flood level, and the state Department of Natural Resources is expected to require Racine County to improve the safety of the dam by increasing its spillway capacity or removing it. Staff from the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission will present four conceptual alternatives for the dam.

Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network and Sweet Water are working together to lead the planning effort. SEWRPC was selected to prepare the plan and is focusing on four areas selected by a planning group of citizens and public officials: water quality; recreational access and use; habitat conditions; and flooding within Racine County. The plan will build from SEWRPC’s 2007 Regional Water Quality Management Plan Update and will include recommendations to be implemented over a five-year period after the completion of the plan. The plan is to be completed in May.”

What why now?  Why does the SEWRPC’s 2007 Regional Water Quality Management Plan Update need to be updated?  The story does not say what else might be having an impact on the Root River  that may need to be addressed?  Well there is Rootworks looking for $$ and as I see it Mayor Dickert’s pals need to get paid, I think I will have to see who if any pal of the Mayor is on this  SEWRPC’s 2007 Regional Water Quality Management Plan.  That might explain  that.

But maybe something bigger is going on what other huge project is going on in S.E. Wisconsin that might effect the Root River???

Guesses? Anyone?   Yes you Ms P in the back row? (Takes paper handed to him.

Why you just might found something Ms P!

http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/waukesha-buys-option-on-land-for-root-river-discharge-ce8jmke-189591171.html

” The City of Waukesha has an option to purchase 60 acres in Franklin on the east bank of the Root River should Waukesha succeed in its request to buy Lake Michigan water.

The property southeast of the intersection of Oakwood Road and S. 60th St. is one possible location for Waukesha to end a pipeline carrying treated wastewater so it could be discharged to the river and returned to the lake, Waukesha Water Utility General Manager Dan Duchniak said.”…

Wow yes maybe if 6 Million Gals of “treated” sewage gets put into the Root River each day the Damn would need to go.

6 Million Gallions of “Treated sewage” down the Root River (and by all the folks coming to see it via Root Works) right into Lake Michigan where our Belle City Harbor is.  Boy, how nice would it be if the 6 million gallons looked like this?

shit

You think the Boaters would come back?   How about property values along the Shit I mean Root River?

I would  go to this meeting and ask questions if I was you

A way to steal the Public’s money. An Editorial

An Editorial

So you live in a strange  little town with few jobs, declining population  and what few businesses that are left quickly running off.

Like anyone you still have to pay the bills and your business may not be doing so good either .

What to do what to do? Well say your in luck and Mayor John Dickert is in charge

GoGoGirlsPhoto_12

My bad

John Dickert

Better.

Great, first thing is create a group that will be in change of an issue and not answer to the voters.

second fill the group with as many pals of the Mayor as you can proven all ready to be easy to fool after all they trust Mayor John Dickert to do the right thing like take down Street lights sue his own city and go to France as Racine continues to have some of the highest unemployment in the State.

Next Have your pal funnel Block grant $$ to you so you can hire a consultant that will come up with a plan to fix this issue and said plan will cost millions (but the price is never given or even talked about)

Hold public meetings and no matter how few members of the public show up say you have huge numbers if questions are asked hem and haw. Create Power Point   presentations to help with the Dog and Pony show

DPS

Of  course the City Council filled with the Mayor’s  pals will approved anything they are told too, its Racine after all, did we not pay for the Mayor’s legal bill? Have they yet said no to any strange thing this Mayor wants?  Are we not better off having CAR 25 ran by yet more of the Mayor’s pals?

Now lets review we have a group that is managing an issue, with City $$ via block grants, consultants are hired to come up with a plan, this plan allows the the group to seek Grants to get the plan going of could some folks on this group may get paid after all if business is bad  they will need a job, right?

So your part of this effort you know what is being called for land that may need to be bought  or properties obtained.  What could a crook do with this information?  Maybe have others buy this property that way when the City does money is made?  Knowing what other goods/services may be needed start/buy/ invest in that area more money. After all perhaps its the group that chooses who they buy goods/serve from for the project and not the city?

Then too if you live in Racine you saw the issues with CAR 25 and Macemon with The City of Racine, as some think its a big wink wink sort of game.

How much has the City spent and how much more will they?  Who is making money here? Are you not glad that perhaps the City exists to fund pals and cronys? Hey are all your street lights still up?

Do we have a Leader?

If only

If only that Mayor John Dickert

John Dickert

Call a Press Conference and also have CAR 25 carry it live step out and say something along the lines of

Racine we are fucked, and I need your help. See we have no money and instead of looking to blame others its time for me your elected leader to lead.

I made mistakes I am only human.  We as a city must act together to find how we can best solve the issues we face of Debt, lack of jobs, crime, and the other issues we face.

We must act now   so I am directing the City Attorney to start action on Delta Hawk to recover City funds given for as of yet there have been few jobs and not the 100 I was told there would be.

I also will stop at once any more $$ going to Porters and ask for a full review of all monies given to that project and if we can recover any of it.

At this time, I will start to sell City owned real estate  at auction on X date.

I also have not been paying attention to what you who live in Racine have to say to me, starting on X I will have Open Office hours  from 12:00 to 2PM  where anyone may have time to talk to me on city of Racine issues.  As well every Monday night from 6-8PM I and I hope city aldermen will join me for another Open Office time.

I am sorry for any errors, I have made I am only Human.

Please let us come together and as a City fix the issues and move forward.

But this speech or any like it will never get made, IMHO its easier to say Its all Scott Walkers fault! Blame the Blogers and ask for The God Obama to do something how will that work out do you think?

Spy in the 7?

Breaking!  I will be meeting with Mr. X in the A.M to discuss the possibilities of a Spy in the 7!

This meeting like others to come must be help outside the City of Racine as it was explained to me prevent us from being observed by RPD that Mr X thinks are following him.

As I understand it, info known only to the 7 is being discussed in City Hall (Recall the Laser can be used to pick up voice) my ? is do the 7 have a active spy in City Hall?

What city worker could dislike the Mayor that much? Or better yet what City Worker likes the Mayor?

Do we have an Adult in the Room?

Roomer Room

Awhile ago I had the chance to talk to the County Executive Jim Ladwig about Reef Point Marnia, during that meeting he brought up Rootworks , we talked about that and the Uptown or as I call it *The Pit of Death”

My worry was well what I see as massive misspending by the City on silly projects when we not only have no money but its costing us more to issue Bonds as a City and that cost could go up as Racine sinks further into the Quick Sand that is misspending by Mayor John “I just want to be somebody”  Dickert

Like the $$ for the City Hall Bathrooms and how I saw a Pal of the Mayor making bank and my worries that the same would happen with Rootworks.  The best idea for the Uptown I thought was to Bulldoze it, then use Flamethrowers.

Mr Ladwig said the county would be helping in both areas. He did also say there would be an adult in the room to be sure things were say Copacetic.

I outlined a few ways that a a shady person say with inside information could make a lot of $$ on Rootworks.

Again I was told not to worry, an adult would be in the room.

After reading the last few posts of Racine Exposed. I am very worried that as I see it, Mayor John Dickert is The Kingmaker and pulling all the strings

We know again from Racine Exposed, that the County is not much better off the the City and IMHO be in big debit too.

This will come from spending County money on on what  I see as insane projects for the Uptown, and Rootworks.

I like to know who will be the Adult in the Room and what safeguards will be in place to protect us from a massive boondoggle?

Sure am glad I am not a Farmer in Union Grove and could see massive tax increases  so pals  of Mayor John Dickert get paid.

Death to kids we must have art!

imagesDK

Yes in Racine we must like dead kids after all our City leaders do so much for them.

Read the Paper today?

http://journaltimes.com/news/local/city-rama-mulling-upgrades-at-wustum/article_2bbd9a1e-0560-11e3-9967-001a4bcf887a.html   From the paper today

“Modern upgrades may be on the horizon for the 19th-century farmhouse that houses the Wustum Museum of Fine Arts.

A preliminary construction cost for that proposal would be about $1.2 million, Rafel explained, as opposed to another plan put forth by the architects which would include an elevator and seasonal tent for about $800,000.

Possible changes are still in the early stages, according to the representatives. RAMA Director of Development Laura D’Amato said she was waiting until after Wednesday’s meeting to begin informing most members of the group’s board.

“Just because we’ve got this in front of us, doesn’t mean we’re doing this,” Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Tom Molbeck emphasized Wednesday. “At this point, this is just a drawing that was supposed to come in just to kind of show you (on the board) what was being done, what the possibilities were and why we were doing them.”

And as for money, Molbeck said he had just learned about the proposal’s estimated cost this week, adding, “I can’t tell you (the board) where I’d get 1-point-whatever million dollars from.” ”

How nice 800K-1.2. Million for the rich white of Racine at the same time that  groups like Safe Haven http://www.safehavenofracine.org/   that helps Homeless kids on the street find a safe place (some are run aways from abusive homes. )   must end programs.

Gee how nice  that is , as you know I live in the worst innerr city slum (well one of them) you can think off, My wife and I seen the run aways the Homeless kids and praise to God we help how we could, I hope we made a difference.

Why the rage today? Saw the home on 6th st close and then read the above. I know of the hard work that home did for aiding kids, all kids.

Sadly IMHO our City Leaders are more upset that the   Wustum Museum may have to wait to get money then the fact that we have a lot of young kids on the streets of Racine with no place safe to go.

I have done bad things in the past and fall short of the Glory of God, At least I will not face the Hell Fire  that may await our City Leadership to would rather fund an Art Museum then save/help Runaway youth

Might it be because our city leadership think they be helping

imagesby

After all why care about them? They can’t spend $$ in the Downtown, and they might want to eat food or go to school!

I am also thankful that Racine has others in the City that help from Churches to just folk. At least they are helping.

Tomorrow I think I will make sure I thank them for what they do. Might be the only thanks they get, you think that The Mayor of Racine will?
