Power of Action

 

By action we can do many things, just like we do when we sit on our ass. We may not get want we want but at least we can go down fighting vs being a sack of Shit waiting for the right time or the right person.

There might not be a right time or the right leader and one must make do. Perhaps we need to wait for a check from Obama or Mayor John Dickert to do the right thing.

That might be a long long wait.

I was wrong!

Yes I was wrong and I admit it. Unlike say Mayor John Dickert I know I can be wrong and know  when I am I can say so and move on

What I was wrong on was the Reef point Marina and like I said on my Podcast today and an earlier post that I made a mistake I like to thank UP for his taking the time and explaining things to me that I did not understand, allowing me to follow up on info he gave me to learn more.

IMHO Jim Ladwig did the right thing to get Reefpoint and doing the right thing by investing it this and the upgrades planed so far.

Numbers do not lie.

Reef Point holds about 950 Slips rents run from about 1800 to about 2300. a year to rent, A good marketing effort should see about 50% rented this year or   say 600K brought in next year on I see 75% rented or about 700 rented at the same cost (Low balling rents based on size ect) for about 1 million brought in.

The profit will be reinvested in the Marina NOT shared with the City of Racine. so I see the county doing well on this investment.

I fully understand that a effort will be made to not only to bring in large craft but more local,area, State and outside Wisconsin Fishermen/Small pleasure craft to Racine launch fatalities. This money I understand goes to the City, there might be efforts to force the City to share or at least show where the money went.

Preventing   what IMHO I will call Mayor John Dickert lining his pals pockets and not benefiting the City of Racine as a whole.

Will spin off occur to help the Downtown? I do not know. I have been told that R.P. is doing more to work with the DNC. ( I hope that’s a two way street) so I guess some benefit will happen  how much I do not know.

I can also see opportunities for new businesses  around the Marina from repair to delivery.

Will this go smothly no  issues will happen, I however trust Mr. Ladwig more then Mayor John Dickert to fix them WITHOUT giving $$ to pals. I can also see Racine County seeing the other oppertunies that the City refuses to act on.

I did talk to the County Executive today about my fears and he was able to reasure me about them, as did the Marina Manager.

I will be removing my old postings to reflect my new thoughts on this issue.

Recall The Odyssey? The story where Odysseus helped the crew of his ship escape the call of the monsters? He had the crew plug their ears as he was tied to the mast, so he could here the song?

How he begged to  be untied so he could swim to them? If the crew would have done so  Odysseus we know was not untied and on the ship went.

What you may not know is this in Greek Myth the foul things die badly in some Hera kills them others, they kill themselves, after   Odysseus escapes. The Greeks liked a good bloody killing.

Call To Order

The meeting was called to order at 6:00p.m. by Chairman Ron

Thomas.

Attendance:

Ron Thomas, Mayor John Dickert, Doug Davis, Alderman Ron Hart,

Alan Eubanks, Paul Ancona, Rob Krug, Larry Gregg, Alderman Ray

DeHahn, Mary Osterman and Dominic Kegel.

Walter Feldt was excused.

PUBLIC COMMENT – THREE MINUTES

Ron Thomas declared that the commission will listen respectfully

and the public should use respect in return when speaking to the

commission. There will be no discussion of the complaints to the

ethics commission and each speaker is limited to three minutes. No

public comment.

Programming/Productions

Dominic Kegel reported that a lot of the programming so far is

similar to what it had been. Alderman DeHahn asked if the Chinese

subtitles would be translated to English.

Dominic reported that the Programming System shows had all been

removed. When a program is given to the station, it becomes

property of the city. Alderman Hart feels we need to persue a law

suit. Dominic reported that they were not deleted but removed and

hidden.

Mayor Dickert asked how much time was spent to restore the

playlist. Dominic said the playlist for broadcast was empty. He

spent about 3 days rebuilding it. Mayor Dickert will talk with Paul,

his team and the city attorney about this.

Rob Krug asked Dominic some administrative questions.

Larry Gregg asked if the programs usually submitted on a DVD are

still there. Dominic said yes, but they were scattered all over the

office.

Mary Osterman asked if it was possible that this piece of equipment

failed and caused this problem. Alan Eubanks answered No. This

has not happened before. There was no malfunction. The drive was

wiped clean.

Staffing

Dominic has done four interviews. Currently there is no other staff.

He said he reached out to Scott Nelson but received no response.

OLD BUSINESS

Mayor Dickert said that Ben and Joe had already approached him

about the mission vision statement and putting benchmarks in

place. He is very pleased with their conversation. The commission

will receive contracts so we can start working hands on and moving

forward. Alderman Hart asked if the contract was public. Yes.

Alderman Dehahn said we need to look at programming. Do we

want more education, sports and things the public is interested in?

We may want to change to Channel 25 and leave CAR25. Ben from

Skies Fall said he wants to build structure to the station so it

withstands time, even if they are not here in the future.

Alderman Hart suggested we make a survey about what

programming the public wants to see. Discussed ways to do this

and introducing programs that are new to the station that the public

may not have thought to ask for.

Larry Gregg feels we need to define what the commission’s role is.

The defining of the mission vision statement is a good time

determine this. Mayor Dickert said we need working sessions to

define the work we will be doing.

Alderman Dehahn said he would like to see a monthly report of a

work log so we can give guidance. Dominic replied that he would

like to do a report to create synergy with the commission. He

handed out a report of his first two weeks work.

Osterman asked if the line item “cleaning” meant scrubbing or

organizing. Dominic replied it included both cleaning and

organizing. Alderman Hart asked about the professional services

line item. Mayor Dickert has federal level contacts for Ben’s

equipment needs.

Doug Davis asked if we inventoried all the equipment after the last

employees left. Paul Ancona said the cameras we purchased are

still there. Alderman Dehahn said there are some $5.00 programs

available for fill in programming.

Alderman Hart asked about advertising. Ben said they are not ready

yet. They want to make more of a professional presentation before

they start soliciting advertising. He said that when we stream on

line, Google Ads would be a source that no one could dispute. Krug

spoke about the station being self sustaining. He feels that selling

ads on internet streaming is a great way to generate revenue.

Larry Gregg went back to the subject of cleaning the station. He

feels we need to define who is going to clean the room. Ancona

said there is a process in place to request cleaning services.

Dominic wants us to come see the station. The decision was made

to have next month’s meeting at the CAR25 station. He also

reported he is hosting a producers meeting tomorrow evening at the

Police training room. He also said the station’s phone number

stayed the same and gave everyone his e-mail address.

Like I said yesterday. got messages about Pal’s of Kaplin’s    looking into the CCAP (Criminal History’s of the membership  of those working the Recall of Alderman Kaplin.   it politcal SOP to do this.  from a message itself I understand that Kin of the group will be looked at to, I talked a bit about that yesterday and I am of the belief beating up of kin of any group one may not like is not right and in this case, we would see the same coin played on supporters of Kaplin.  Tax records to be used as a boycott list are being used as I write this.  I do hope that this recall be kept to the issues.

Then why tell me? I can’t vote in this and I am the last one to care about someone’s past after all I too am a Felon and believe    that folks can change.I have.

Sadly as I see it the info will be used to create FEAR in the few White folks still living in the 4th concentrating the few older White Folks   who still do.  Hoping that they do not sign for the recall or vote for Kaplin if/when there is a recall.

In other words as I see this: Kaplin runs not on his record but on FEAR THE OTHER.  FEAR THE BLACK  GUY FEAR THE HISPANIC.  I am pal’s of the Mayor He and I will save you!

Council President Jim Kaplan says recently, online threats have been made against city leaders.

Kaplin has been asked to produce copies of the threats  so far to my understanding has yet to do so. Maybe because they do not exist?

Should the recall folks get the numbers needed and I think they will. Will those who signed get a visit from Kaplin? Others? So they (The signers) can be told how evil and all good WHITE/Christian know to fear anyone who may not want to do the right thing?

4th District Recall update

The counter to the recall effort will be the history of some of the group trying to recall, and how evil they are  and only angry at the one true hero protecting his area.

I myself got messages about the CCAP of one on the group, and was told “they” (The pro Kaplin forces) will look at family  members to see what dirt can be dug up.

Well as I have herd local politics are the most vicious as I think this effort will prove, I think.

I do hope that I am wrong on this point because as I see it, this group (the recall group) is not playing and IMHO the same coin will be paid in return. We can and should keep this above board.

We will also see more use of Media in the effort I expect to see T.V. spots produced.

 

Had  lunch on Douglas today about 30 Blacks/Whites/Hispanics wow, talk about pissed off. I took the time to ask why the overwhelming dislike. The answer  in a nut shell was this group (not the group) feel that Kaplin works 1st and last for The Mayor not the district. Also if your Black or Hispanic do not bother to call.

Never let it be said I am not willing to learn  or be willing to change my mind!

 

A Blogger called Urban Pioneer and I chatted about The Marnia and  the  issues with that and how may be wrong on some of my ideas.

He offered this idea, to hang out around the Lake front and lean more about what is going on  with all of that and see how this impacts the City and County.

He will take me out on his boat perhaps other boats make sure I get the best information on events going on and the many in this area, the State and those outside the State who use the Marina.

From even the little he was able to share (Due to time) with me, I knew I had a bit of Misinformation I was dealing with.

In return I agreed to pass along on this Blog information I received so a better understanding can be had by all.
