Live on TV is Racine in Ruins!

Due to the power of Goggle + and You Tube Racine in Ruins will soon be able to do do live broadcasting to a far greater audience then CAR 25.  We will also still be able to bring this programing to CAR 25 and the City of Racine.

Just think of all the folks we will be able to reach and tell the story of Racine WI, a city in ruins.

To think that Mayor John Dickert thinks he can control the events in Racine   from being told to the outside world is just silly!

With the continued loss of tax base, lawsuits, foreclosures, plant closings, high unemployment and high rates of crime John Dickert will find his borrow and spend ways crimped once Moody’s takes another overall look at the decline of economic activity in The City of Racine.

Racine is going to be rated “junk bond” status – and rightly so.

The loss of tax revenue from 233 Lake Ave., $140,142.66 (2011) and 1425 N.Memorial Dr. $46,167.77 (2011) is just another economic step closer in Racine’s march to the fiscal cliff, default, and bankruptcy.

Is the Mayor all smoke and mirrors? Do the residents of the City pay attention to anything he says and does? Take this test –

From the text of the Mayor’s 2013 budget speech:

    http://www.journaltimes.com/text-of-mayor-s-budget-address/article_d3a50d0c-1eb1-11e2-aa0e-001a4bcf887a.html

“I believe you don’t cut your way to a great city – you work in partnership to build a better community.”

    Followed by:

“As we see services lost to budget cuts I ask those of you who can to volunteer to help our community.”

What does Dickert believe? How about you?

    • David E. says:

I think it means the Mayor wants you to blindly support him while he gives away millions to his friends and borrows the City into financial collapse.

You have to view this from the correct perspective. In a city where the population is declining by thousands, businesses leave for surrounding communities, close down or refuse to pay their property taxes, unemployment is #1 in the State, foreclosures occur at the rate of more than one per day, city employees move outside the city, and abandoned and empty houses create blight everywhere – The City just doesn’t have enough tax paying people left to pay for things like fire or police protection.

YET – the City is planning on issuing more than $9M in new bonds for 2013. Imagine the cost to service this debt with the sure to come Bond Downgrade as questions arise in investors mind as to the creditworthiness of a City that has an ever declining tax base and can’t afford the services to protect that tax base. Junk -bond status for the Slums of Racine.

Don’t worry though – they are going to cut the Grant Facilitator out of the City Admin. position.

The 2012 Budget, under City Administration had 4 positions authorized: Mayor, City Admin., Grant Facilitator and Assistant, with a salary and fringe benefit of $351,423 – divide by 4 = $87,855.75/position avg.

The 2013 Budget, under City Administration has 3 positions authorized: Mayor, City Admin., and Assistant, with a salary and fringe benefit of $276,993 – divide by 3 = $92,331/position avg

$6,000 for mileage. $13,000 for travel expenses – Is John planning another overseas adventure to visit, let’s say, fish farms? $7,000 for memberships – buys you access and prestige – right? $2,500 for telephone!

Racine is becoming just like Detroit!

    “Station 5 May Close-Value of a human life in Racine-not even $3.50”

Soon we will be reading headlines just like Detroit’s, only with Racine in Place:

“DETROIT, MI — Detroit’s bond status sunk even lower Tuesday, as Fitch Ratings downgraded the city’s credit rating in the face of uncertainty over a pending lawsuit over a recent consent agreement with the state.

Fitch, citing concerns that Detroit will be able to make a $34 million debt payment this week if the state witholds revenue sharing because of the suit, lowered several city bond ratings from B and B- to CC and CCC.

“Fitch believes there are actions available to both the city and the state of Michigan that would insure the payment is made but that the current level of uncertainty so close to a bond repayment date is consistent with a higher probability of default than the prior B-category ratings implied,” said a report.

Moody’s downgraded Detroit bonds in March, making it even more difficult for the city to borrow money without facilitation from the state.”

” Fitch cuts several classes of Detroit debt

    * Worries about bond payment boosts default chances

    By Karen Pierog

June 12 (Reuters) – Concerns that Detroit may miss a payment due Friday on its pension debt led Fitch Ratings to lower the city’s already junk-level ratings into the C category on Tuesday, denoting a higher chance of default.

Fitch analyst Amy Laskey cited statements by Mayor Dave Bing that the city may not be able to make a payment on $1.5 billion of pension debt as it may run out of cash by Friday. ”

A City like Racine that can’t afford to provide adequate Fire and Police protection for it’s assets is liable to catastrophic losses, defaults, and risky for investors. Bond downgrades are in order.
